A Gardening Story…

My children are all down to earth.

In this day and age it is important to be able to do things for yourself.

I have a self sufficiency son who has a garden only we have no pictures.  Apparently he is growing lettuce, squash, tomatoes brussels, cabbage and eggs…

Well, the eggs aren’t growing but the chicks who will be laying them are…

But I have no pictures of them either!

Daughts has planted a garden with her boyfriend do you see the cross?

Garden

She is so proud you’d think she’d done all the hard work!

Does opening seed packets count?  Of course.

Does cheering on count?  Absolutely.

Does watering count?  Are you kidding?

Do you see all the leafy growth, that’s those teeny weeny little seeds released from their packets, coming to life with a few kind words and flourishing with sprinklings of water.

The garden is growing so well the other evening radishes made it to the table,

Radish

deliciously spicy and crunchy.

I asked,

“Since it’s an underground salad veg..” a tuber, “how can you tell when it’s done as in ‘done growing’?”

“You begin to see some of the red, rosy, tuber peeking through the soil!” Daughts answered in her gardening wisdom.

That works!

I imagined pulling up the carrots every few days to check on them then pushing them back into the earth for few more days to finish off…

It doesn’t work like that with baked goods either, once I’ve taken a cake out of the oven and cooled it only to find it is still a bit wet on the inside, forget popping it back into the oven to firm up…

Slightly runny cake is delicious on ice cream!

Daughts’ ‘done growing’ method makes much more sense.

I love this agricultural look, healthy, confident and so happy!
