Love Never Dies…

We went to see the West End musical, Love Never Dies, on Monday night.  I thought Monday nights were dark too, but it was showing and as far as we could see and hear the cast performed to a packed house.  The reviewers aren’t raving about it though but the ticket prices don’t know this….

We sit at our laptops, Hubby and I, like Sally and her brother in Dr. Seuss’s book, The Cat in the Hat,  waiting for something to happen that will change our day, our week our lives…for the better you understand. We write, we apply for jobs, we check emails, wait for someone to Skype, we…

My parents’ house and now flat is full of carefully matching furniture. Not like mine!  We are hunters down of rare antiques, rare as in, not awfully expensive so hard to find,  because of raising children to feel that our house was their house too.  Not a problem convincing our  children of that I don’t…

Darkest Hours…

I feel as though I have been through some dark hours in my life.  As a trained Stephen Minister and Leader I know better than to push my inner suffering under the carpet and think of those worse off than myself. So I don’t. And neither should you. Our dark moments are just that, ours…

The carpet in our flat looks as though it belongs in a cheap bedsit in Brixton.  If you’re in America this translates as tenement building in the inner city.  First off it’s cream and second off there are random rust marks on it that resemble cigarette burns, and large stains that resemble something that doesn’t…

I had to register as an elector in order to be considerd for a loan. Now if you’re wondering why I need a loan so early into my moving to England you are quite justified.  We’re starting all over here and I feel like a youngster out on my own again, except I don’t have…

I read somewhere today, while researching for my show, that we should comment on each other’s posts. The few words of encouragement draws people in and perhaps spurs them on to comment too and then before you know it there are lots of comments and some good feelings going on for the blog and blogger….

Personal Belongings…

On the trains, buses and trams we are challenged by the unusual use of words instructing us to do certain things while we make our journey into town. “Please keep an eye on your personal belongings and make sure you take everything with you when you alight.” Hubby and I are worried if we keep…

I’ve talked about public transportation in England and how great it is, well it has always been good, even when I was a child and my grandmother and I would go to market.  Back then I was enamored of the buses and trains the trams and coaches.  No need for a car unless one lived…

Each night, Malia and I have a ritual.  We take out the rubbish to the dustbins.  We’ve done this since our first visit last year.  I don’t know why we attach so much importance to this little trip, but we do and we guard it jealously. No amount of brain storming on how to increase…
