Black Cats are…

Her black coat, when caught in the sunlight, revealed brown stripes which smacked of molasses.  Because she had the unfortunate distinction of being born a cat, and a cat with a singular mind at that, she had to have at least two names;  her formal name was Molasses; her human family called her, Molly.  She was, for the most part, feral and for the least part, domestic.  She hated Watson who was older and bigger and a dog.  He showed his love for her by taking her head in his mouth and shaking her gently…for a terrier.    When she grew weary of these dog inspired games she took her place as head of the pet household, oblivious to the seniority rule, and kept Watson firmly in his place with strategically placed swats to his nose.  Then she disappeared.
