Communication Part Two…

Now all of a sudden American teens don’t talk on the telephone any more.  Land phones are fast going out of fashion.  Mobiles, aka cells, are replacing these bastions of truth.  For, if you manage to catch your child on a land phone, chances are, he, is where he is supposed to be.  This cannot be said of the incredibly portable mobile.  But, let’s not go there either…at least not today.  And why don’t they talk on their telephones anymore?  There’s a new use for this communication devise.  It is called texting.

This is what they do instead of the long, wordy, chats of yesteryear.

This is what they do all the time, they can have multiple, simultaneous conversations, which sometimes get them into trouble, ask your teen!

The word “talk” has a new meaning.  When my children tell me they’ve spoken to someone I immediately think, speak as in using the voice box…but I am now learning, not before time either, that what they are doing is writing code, rather like the “three rings” from my era.  Now I should be happy that they are writing, these homeschooling progeny of mine, but honestly, no-one could possibly call, GTG,  TTYL, LOL, or BRB complete sentences, or could they?
