Dahlin’ is quick on her four feet and short little legs!
I was worried that she would dash off without me and disappear into the woods, but she was good as long as I stayed put, in a flower bed or hanging up the washing and didn’t wander off which flipped a switch that said…”runnies!”
One morning I was busy weeding and she stood several feet away from me, close to the sprinklers just in case they went off, and barked at the squirrels, crows, or rabbits keeping them at bay.
Looking all puffed up and aggressive she struck an intimidating pose to the various critters that were attracting her attention making her the perfect sentry…
I sent a photo to her Mum and said,
“She’s barking at nothing!”
“If she’s barking, there’s something there,” she responded, “you just can’t see it!”
Which had me imaging bigger prey like coyotes and bobcats but I didn’t see anything when I wandered over and clipped her leash on.
Towards the end of her stay I asked Hubs,
“I wonder if she thinks this is her forever home now?”
I texted the same question to her Mum and a response came back as quick as a flash.
“What! Does she sleep in your bed?”
“No,” I assured her.
And sent off a quick pic of her deeply asleep across Hubs’ lap.
Only for a few minutes though because we were soon back to teaching her the difference between two of her favourite toys, ‘Avocado’ and ‘Spider’.
She was only really good at the differentiation when we played with one or the other.
“That’s hardly the point!” I said to Hubs! But it gave her plenty of indoor run-time!
Then it was time to go home and we put her in a bath-tub of warm water and washed her with baby shampoo to save her eyes, and brushed out all the burrs and tangles.
She was as good as gold and obviously an old hat at spending a few moments at the spa.
The water was filthy, proof that she had had a thoroughly good time at Footlights Ranch!
Come back soon little girlie!
