Hornets & Homeschool…

I have a homeschool project outside my office window.
I enjoy standing at the glass watching the hornets busy themselves with nest building.
Their honeycomb labyrinths into the classic shape of their home, getting larger every day.
It is alive and damp, vibrant and fruitful. It heaves and hums.
It makes my hub’s fingers itch to get hold of the spray and annihilate them with one powerful blast.
I distract him with my tomato plant bearing fruit inside the office. I quietly continue to enjoy my thriving nest, on the outside and mourn the passing days of homeschool, children and crowded cuddling places.

I am an empty nester exploring life as a Boomer…you could say I'm happily Boomering along!
As a homeschooling Mum I have finally quit the job of role model and mentor to my four children. I do what I want to do, eat when I feel like it, enjoy life with my blue eyed cowboy and clean my house once a month or so whether it needs it or not!
In true English form I write about the emergence of my true identity now that I can no longer hide behind my children as their Mum.
