Hot Air Balloon…

Most Sundays Hubs and I see a hot air balloon descending as we make our way to church along the back roads,

Balloon

the pick up vehicle waiting close-by. .

Its gently floating presence instills a calm that belies the reality of the dreadful hot air balloon explosion in Lockhart, Central Texas on Saturday morning resulting in the death of 16 people.

As I prayed for their souls during mass

I was once again reminded of the fragility of life

especially during this season of senseless killings.

An accident just makes our gift more precious,

our loved ones more dear,

and the loss more tragic:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

May God be with all those who are left behind holding their grief in their hearts forever.
