We were out in Mineola a week or so ago and found an antique shop with this sign in the window,
which was a very suitable description for what our house had become during our Gap Year in England!
Further along there was this reminder of the lazy summer days of hubs’ youth!
Continuing on our jaunt we came upon a listed home that had fallen into disrepair. At the front of the house was this marker,
Curious, I went onto a site to find out more about this woman who bore the unfortunate name engraved on the plaque. Her father, who loved his family, had christened his only daughter after a heroine in a Civil War poem (written by her uncle Thomas Elisha Hogg), Imogene known as Ima. What a burden to carry with you for life!
Pretty flowers lined the road where I walked around Hideaway Lake, the lantana in full bloom against the heat,
unknown berries that wound themselves intricately up an ivy-like stem, also found in my mother-in-law’s garden,
but she had no idea what it was either.
These paper lantern looking flowers always appear so cool and delicate in the blinding sunshine.
And of course, a walk wouldn’t be complete without something dead to record. How about this deceased blue bird?!
We went to Central Market in Plano over the weekend to get some cake ingredients and saw this display of Fall pumpkins.
Their very own pumpkin patch in the lobby! Some of them are edible, most are for show and of course, the perfectly shaped orange ones are for carving!
