Last Times…

The day has finally arrived when Daughts leaves to board her ship in Invergordon.

We had some discussions leading up to  her departure.  She assures me she is excited although I am worried I am sending her into the unknown…somewhere I’ve not prepared her for!  Except for giving her a firm foundation from which to launch her life!

We shopped for days it seemed but spread over two weekends,

Shopping

with a couple of sushi breaks in the park at Embankment when the going got tough!

Sushi2 Sushi3

and one in the mall to satisfy a sweet tooth craving,

We managed to square away everything she needs to the best of our knowledge, a long dress, a cocktail dress, smart casual for mixing with the passengers.  Luckily she wears a uniform for most of the day so everyday work wear was not an issue.

We Jolly Woodman’d one last time, in the rain!

We played Uno one last time,

We walked down the road to eat at Pier Luigi’s one last time,

we took a photo outside Highcliffe one last time,

and snapped the Willow tree in the garden at sunset one last time,

Daughts packed in a rolling duffel, a back-pack and her hand bag and we hailed a taxi which arrived late and put us all into a flap especially when we presented ourselves at the check in desk where the attendant delightedly announced,

“The flight has closed.  You are one minute late…”  Gosh he was happy!

We walked over to customer service imagining a three hour wait for the next flight and the representative picked up his phone and we were sent back to the delighted attendant.  He had her labels ready and no sooner had he tied them on he said,

“Close the flight to Inverness!” to his colleague!

Hurried hugs were all we got at security and lots of waves as we watched from the other side.

Then we disconsolately made our way, by train and tram, home.

Of course I would love to say all went well, that she was met at the airport and happily installed in her hotel for the night but I wouldn’t be truthing!

The port authority was not expecting her, all the hotels were booked, so she waited outside the airport admiring beautiful hills and countryside waiting for a phone call.

A taxi eventually came for her and she was taken “somewhere” quaint for the night.

“Inver-tween-ness,” she told us!

Luckily it was still light for several more hours so she was able to go out and pick up some Chinese which she ate while face-timing us!

Yes another iPhone skill!

She told us she could hardly contain her excitement.

We told her we loved her.

God speed Daughts, I’ll miss your daily stories that keep my blog going!
