More Moving Stories…

To say the move went smoothly on day two would be an exaggeration.

The men arrived at our storage unit with a few pieces of furniture from our son’s and began the painful process of moving, piece by piece, box by box, the contents of our warehouse.

They were slow and did as good a job as one would expect from friends lending a helping hand, except, we were paying them!

After 31/2 hours I threw in the towel and declared a halt.

The truck was almost full and I was having doubts that my plan to move everything over to our flat and attached garage was a dream.

The loaded vehicle had trouble starting, it was old and had been idle for a few hours.

It took just as long to put everything in the flat and by the end I was surrounded by large furniture

Just how many “kitchen drawer” boxes does one need to unpack?

School teacher daughter came over to help,Moving9

and we spent an evening filling the kitchen with china from grandmama’s, pots and pans and cutlery and glasses.

We tried, as far as possible, to keep the storage scheme in line with the old family home.

Paris said,

“Just close your eyes and imagine our kitchen…”  She loves setting up house!

I, on the other hand can only see all the palaver again when we move out in six months…

For dinner we had hamburgers and Champagne to toast the belongings that had finally made it into the flat, albeit a day late.

There was snow on the car when it was time to leave, winter had arrived while we moved,

and with it another season.
