Nature at Her Very Best Too…

At the end of July it had begun to get hotter and my flowers were beginning to wilt expecting me to water them a couple of times a week.

Tomatoes and squash were still giving in their abundance but those too were beginning to slow down.

July was melting into August and our very pleasant spring and summer began counting its days before Texas became hotter’n hell.

As I walk before dawn I watch the sky, there’s no knowing what I may see when I lift my eyes from the dirt road of Rigsby Lane and scan the horizon to catch the first glimmer of light.

I was not disappointed this morning for there, in the clouds, was the telltale splattering of colour

Rainbow

broken up by wisps of white but nevertheless proclaiming loudly God’s promise of the  colourful bow.

It had not rained for weeks but His voice was getting more distinct above me as I walked.

“I will place my rainbow in the clouds,” God had said to Noah.

“It will become a guarantee of the covenant between me and the earth.

“Never again will the waters become a flood

“and destroy all living things.”

As it became more defined I quickly took pictures before it melted into the sunrise,

Rainbow2

“When the rainbow is in the clouds, I will notice it and remember the perpetual covenant

“Never again will a flood destroy the earth.”  (Genesis 9: 11-16)

And then the next moment the stunning display had vanished but God’s words still echoed in my head.

Look up to the skies as the psalmists did…

“The heavens declare the glory of God: the skies display his handiwork.” (Psalm 19: 1)

Look up to observe nature at her very best,

a reminder that our Creator is true to His word.

Rain or no rain!
