Opening the Window to My Soul…

There have been times in my life when I’ve felt trapped by an event or a circumstance.

I feel my lungs contract and find it difficult to catch my breath.

I fling open a window to let the air in for me to breathe,

Window2

something I do not take for granted given my history of sudden asthma brought on by dust, grass and pet dander.

Opening a window is sadly not always the answer to my physical affliction when I am hyperventilating, but when the breeze rushes in crisp and strong, it helps.

Very often though there is no escape from the mental anguish I am suffering from whatever calamity has befallen me causing me to gasp.

There is no going back,

There is no skirting the issue,

There is no sweeping it under the carpet.

There is only going through it.

The prospect, on my own, is terrifying.

I join hands with God.

I crank open a window of prayer to let in God’s grace, pure and simple.

Window

I murmur sweet words of praise as I move through the tumult of my day,

My interior self is nourished,

I listen with the ear of my heart,

and I allow God’s healing breath to ruffle my hair,

Caress my cheek,

Wash me clean and freshen the thick, sullen atmosphere that enfolds me.

I continue with my practice to pray continually.  (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

And leave the window to my soul wide open.

Hello, Vivienne,
You have a lovely site and I was very interested in the photograph at the top of this page of the open window with a view onto the fields. If this is your own photograph, is there a way I could get permission to use it? I am a life coach and my website is http://theartofaging.us. I am also a boomer and the image of the opening window is a powerful one for me.

If I could have permission to use your photo, I would be most grateful and of course, I would name you as the author. Thank you for your time, Kathleen Roberts
