Pancakes…

We had pancakes for dinner.

Pancakes

Don’t you just love breakfast in the evening?

I enjoy mine with lemon and sugar.

My mother would make them on Shrove Tuesday and they would be paper thin.

Crepes they are called in France.

We called them pancakes and Mum was a dab hand at tossing them in the air to flip them over.

On coming to America I discovered pancakes are thicker,

All the more lemon and sugar to soak up.

Not for me the sticky, sweet, syrupy delight of Aunt Jemima,

SyrupAnts

Yes!

Those are ants in the flagon!

Sugar and lemon were sweet enough for all of us that night!
