Positive Re-inforcement…

I have been enlisted to help one of sons with a couple of letters recently.

One was his letter of resignation.  He sent me a one liner stating his intention to leave and I turned it into a three paragraph song of praise.

The recipient said it was the best resignation letter he had ever received.

The second was a letter of recommendation for one of his co-workers as she applied for a different position.  The letter my son sent to me was longer and I had a lot more to work with.

The ensuing letter of praise reduced her to tears.

On his final day at work my son took his time bidding farewell to all his colleagues and bosses.  Everyone had good words for him and expressed their sorrow at seeing him go and told him they would miss him, he was a good employee, a team player and lots and lots of other positive phrases that would stand up well in a reference letter.

I wonder?  As I said to one of my radio show guests, if fellow workers told their team mates each day how much they enjoyed working with them, if bosses told their employees what a good job they had done hat day, if colleagues passed n words of praise they’d heard through the grapevine…how much turn over would there be in the work place?  How much better would the atmosphere be?

Why wait until someone leaves?

And this applies to life!

Take a book, with blank pages, and each day for 30 days write something you are grateful for about your day, even if you had a terrible day, find soemthing to be grateful for.

My daughter and I have done this before and at first it is difficult, unless of course you are in love then everything is wonderful.

Research has shown and we experienced it, that people who are grateful on a daily basis are happier.

And we all want to be happy don’t we?

Start sending out those positive vibes today and don’t keep them to yourself.
