Radiance…

RadiantMalia

Daughts has been radiant lately.

For a child who swings from mood to mood in a matter of nano-seconds, a side effect (I’m convinced) of that instant window on life our young people have a vice grip on, seeing a smile spread unbidden across her face at random moments in the day is joyous.

She sits at the kitchen counter where life happens in our house and we talk and a smile blossoms.

“What?” I ask.

“Just thinking of dinner last night…” she says.

“You had a good time didn’t you?’ I state the obvious and she swoons.

Recently I have had another instance when someone’s good fortune truly uplifts my spirits.

Friends of ours who have both suffered through unemployment for almost five years have finally received some wonderful news that will allow them to get back on their feet in a manner far beyond their wildest dreams.  Hope for us as we plod towards early retirement!

God is good.  He is also demanding, not as an angry task master, more as a benevolent benefactor who suffers, weeps and bleeds with us in our struggles and rings bells and rejoices in our victories.

If only I could let go, not rush things and in the race do something stupid.

If only I could embrace my life while I struggle, let the knots unravel.

If only I could really trust Him more than the world.

At times I am able to take a deep breath, close my eyes for just a moment and believe God has my life under control…if I couldn’t I’d keel over and have a heart attack I swanee!

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” (Matthew 6:27)  Jesus asks and I roll my eyes in agreement!  I know, I know, I know…

A concert has daughts laughing out loud when she comes home to share her moments,

“What?” I ask.

“I had the best time ever,” she says the light in her eyes dancing all over her face.

My heart swells for Daughts and my friends as I share in their happiness and pass the wheel to my creator.

Who wants an extra hour added to her stressful life?
