This week the temperatures have been very pleasant in the morning.
I find I am almost frisky when the air is brisk and I have to wear a sweater to keep the chill out for the first few miles.
Mid 70ºF makes me feel a little sluggish but a low 60ºF is just right.
My body feels limber and there’s definitely a spring in my step.
I manage to clip 6 minutes off my usual walk-time.
The heavens this particular morning were hazy; I could see the eastern sky glowing through and around the gossamer clouds a good 15 minutes before the sun was scheduled to pop over the horizon.
Of course I stopped with my camera to capture the remarkable, soul soaring, masterpiece by The Artist.
Oh that I could paint!
David does a remarkable job with words in Psalm 19:
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork.
One day tells its tale to another, and one night imparts knowledge to another.
Although they have no words or language, and their voices are not heard,
Their sound has gone out into all lands, and their message to the ends of the world.
In the deep has he set a pavilion for the sun; it comes forth like a bridegroom out of his chamber; It rejoices like a champion to run its course.
It goes forth from the uttermost edge of the heavens and runs about to the end of it again; nothing is hidden from its burning heat. (Psalm 19:1-6)
I stood and marvelled for a few minutes; His glory right here in my fields; a canopy causing my heart to leap.
Later in the morning Hubs and I were headed to a meeting and as we approached our second gate I noticed a roadrunner race, head forward, tail long, a blur of brown across our path.
Hastily I snapped a picture of this bashful bird that lived in our 100 acre woods.
It blended so well with the earth beneath the trees; had it stayed still I would have missed it!
In striking contrast to each other,
One declaring its splendour for the world to see,
The other whispering for our close attention.
God’s creation nudging me in the ordinary rhythm of my day.
