Taking the Mickey…

We shop along the High Street and try to be green where we can.

Our first contribution to the environment is our decision to walk while in London.  We take the public transport when we have to travel further than a few miles but for local living we use Shanks’ Pony.

Our weekly grocery shop can be a gruelling undertaking and each time we do it, every seven days, I am reminded of how much a car would help!

We follow our list without regard for how much of our cart will really fit into the wheelie basket, the back pack and two carrier bags brought along for conveyancing.

It always fits, but is it always luggable up the hill home?  And are we young enough to take the risk of keeling over in the process?

We have two variables to consider, weight and volume.  A few bottles of water and stronger libations, a gallon of milk and several jars of preserves may pack away neatly but they soon become burdensome when lifted or rolled any distance.  On the other hand, bagged salad, paper towels, grains and bags of crisps are as light as air but tend to be voluminous making the risk of running out of room a distinct possibility!

This visit we discovered an on-line service for the heavy items offering free delivery as long as we spent enough.  Well worth the few moments at the computer not blogging.

Our haul this week was light by comparison, no panting when we arrived on our doorstep an hour later and no carbon footprints left behind.

However, on reviewing our shop I was concerned by this recycled product bought in an honest  burst of green magnaminity ,

ToiletPaper

I wondered if someone was taking the Mickey?

What has been recycled here, paper or toilet tissue?
