Undisclosed Location…

After the disastrous dinner screening of our youngests’ potential date she cruised through a semester without risking a similar demise with any of her ensuing male friends.  There are not many brave enough to venture across our threshold, but one did materialise once college and finals had been successfully completed.

Without a pre-view our youngest announced that she had met a boy, whom we were going to be hearing a lot about in the future.  Shortly after that disclosure I noticed the phone minutes and texting were taking a beating.  We waited.  Then she told us to expect a call from this mysterious boy for she was going on her first date…finally!

I sat her down to get the scoop and found out he is a little older than her, twenty-one to be exact.  He goes to college locally and works at an up market Mexican restaurant.  He still lives at home and has an eighteen year old sibling too.  His parents are younger than us and if the truth were known, we are actually old enough to be his grandparents.  Grr…

As anticipated, he called her father, my reckless cowboy, to ask him permission to take her out!  Good start.

As the day of the date grew closer I found out that he was planning on picking her up at lunchtime and was going to take her to an undisclosed location.  (Yeah right, we thought, but we were under strict instructions not to ruin the surprise by asking him where they were going when he came to the house to get her!)  Our daughter told us he promised to have her back by 4pm since she was working that night at the theatre and neded some down time.

I was excited for her.  The walls of the house reverberated his name as she talked about him endlessly never tiring but wearing us out.
