My Patriotic High Street…

I snapped these pictures between Sainsbury’s and home on our patriotic High Street in Beckenham.

This is an up market optician and high fashion glasses shop,

and across the road is the nail place,

and then another little privately owned shop,

and a passport photo studio.

Here’s one of the many banks wishing us several wonderful Bank Holidays,

and an estate agent getting into the swing of things with two flags.

One of many charity shops going with the red, white and blue theme,

and a very busy gift shop hammering the point home.

A very tasteful display from the only florist on the street,

and “Maria’s,” a family run sandwich cafe.

“The George” with perfectly windswept flags above a banner announcing  “great quality great value NEW Menu.”

Some children’s art with coloured tissue paper,

showing off in the window of a supportive estate agent.

The home made sausage shop, our place for a treat.

“Dos Amigos,” where we were served chips and salsa disguised as French fries and ketchup!

Some shop front “letting” something!

A funny little breakfast shop with a sense of humour.

And finally, with a very smart castle complete with forecourt and beefeater, the only toy shop along the High Street.

There is a prize being awarded next weekend for the best dressed window on the High Street and a Town Crier is going to make the winning announcement at the village green.

Great stuff.

Our jaunt to the city the following day yielded these signs of patriotism:

The covered pavilion at Covent Garden,

and Admiralty Arch where cars and pedestrians can get from Trafalgar Square to The Mall.

Then I snapped these of the view along the Mall towards Buckingham Palace during the concert the following evening…

From my helicopter… I wish…

Pretty spectacular…what?!

Off my television screen at home!

I should have been there!
