Turning Twenty-One…

Daughts is now at that legal age where she can do anything without parental consent.

Just because she has attained the grand old number of twenty-one doesn’t mean that with it came a level of maturity and responsibility.  That will come with time.

It does mean that she can make more mistakes and hopefully learn from life knocks without having the joy of life knocked out of her.

She requested a family dinner party which we all dressed up for, balloons are the only part of that event that managed to get into the archives for prosperity.

She had a few friends drop by later to play party games and hang out and be very, very, loud, but that’s just me speaking from the warmth of my cozy bed in the next room!

For the next forever, or so it seemed, a round of parties began.  Remember she’d finished with her job as a Star Barista so no longer had to be up at the crack of dawn.

The only time, this year, we’ve had her home was when she was thwacked behind the knees by a nasty virus called, The Flu, which had her moaning and wailing for us to tend to her.

Alas and alack she missed one of her Cruise Ship auditions,

resulting in a round of soul searching, conducted by me in the early hours of morning, to determine a Karma-like reason for why?  No answers for this one so I moved on!

The virus did not make its rounds of the resident household and we were all healthy enough to set off the following Monday to board planes bound for out of state destinations.

Daughts went to Las Vegas to work at a convention by day and be twenty-one and a beautiful person by night.  The company she was working for wined, dined, entertained and spoiled her.  She experienced a wealthy, wild and crazy, side of life.  Homeschool field trips were not like this!

We jumped out of our empty nest and went to Florida, found lots of water, palm trees, pastel shades of architecture and skies that enhanced my hair.

Ditching the ordinary for a few days, whether as a beautiful person or empty nesters can fuel an energy strong enough to break away from the rut at home and get on with life!

Carpe Diem!
