Nuggets of Wisdom…

I’ve had a busy two weeks, so busy in fact I’ve not had a spare moment to sit down and post.  More to the point, I’ve sadly neglected my Yoga and my evening walks.  Not that I’ve needed evening walks with all the walking my son claimed we did but I have needed Yoga and found myself consciously taking the deep breaths suggested throughout the practise to get myself through some of the more stressful moments of life with a semi independent visiting son and his news from home.

He claims the house and garden in Texas with nuggets of wisdom like these,

“Mum, you never used the butcher’s block as a cutting board, it works really well…”

“I’ve cut down most of the Asian Jasmine bower on the patio, man that stuff was dense and overgrown…”

“I’ve got rid of the chest of drawers in the spare room, it was ugly…”

“I’ve put the curtains up on the lounge and closing them keeps the temperature down…”

“I’m going to use a fire all winter, real wood, no fire-logs for me…I’ll sweep the chimney myself…”

“I think if we keep the thermostat at a constant level we will use less electricity…”

God and I laugh the laugh of experience.

I surrender and listen without comment to my son who is learning about the responsibilities of home ownership.

“It’s a lot of work…” he admits.

“Do you miss us?”

“Oh yes!”  he says, “the freezer is almost empty and unless I catch my own food there isn’t a lot in the fridge…”

I imagine myself on my yoga mat and utter a soft,

“Om….”
