Plastic Bags Used to be Dangerous…

It rains a lot here in England and do you want to hear something funny?

We are on a hosepipe ban at the moment because the country is in the grip of a drought!  Says who?  Nature went,

“Ha ha!” and for the last month has showered us liberally with a steady drizzle to prove its point.  England is green, because it rains a lot, especially in April.

Walking is a national pastime.  Mothers are out in all weathers pushing their babies in strollers, prams and push chairs.  The prams used to have hoods which could be raised or lowered depending on the weather.

The strollers and push chairs used to have detachable parasols which could also be raised or lowered depending on the weather.

This month I have seen a phenomenon.

Strollers, prams, push chairs looking for all the world as if hubs had gone mad with the cling film!

I rode alongside one on the tube train this morning while travelling with my oldest son to the airport.  I was really tempted to take a photo but didn’t want to look too obvious, as if I was collecting material for a case against the mass suffocation of the innocent child.

Weren’t we told by our mums never to put a plastic bag over our brother’s head?  Even though it was fun to watch him turn blue.

Now here’s a whole new generation of English mums who are teaching their offspring, by example, that it’s all right to place a huge plastic bag over their babies to keep off the rain.

I then see them cooing and smiling at their beloved infants while they slowly turn red and asphyxiate.
