Bucket List…

Daughts has a bucket list!

I don’t know why I thought those were reserved for people with terminal illnesses.

She ticked one off her list last week when she was invited to participate in a Flash-Mob at three locations in Central London.

Rehearsals lasted several hours and spanned two days; lots of leg work, jumps and running that had her moaning each morning as she got out of bed and hobbled to the kitchen for a cup of tea.

We wanted to go and experience her Wanna-Do event and were told,

“It’s a surprise so don’t talk to me.  Pretend you don’t know me!”

When we arrived at the first location the tourists covered our enthusiastic waves and filming of the area before and after.

Daughts was texting,

“Put your phone away, you can be seen!”

I thought,

“Who’s noticing me among the sea of iPhones and Samsungs?”

Oxford Circus has a four way intersection where for 45 seconds pedestrians can safely cross to one of the other sides.  The first Flash Mob was to last 45 seconds.

It ran a little longer and effectively stopped traffic inciting horn blowing!

We walked to the next location, with Daughts, no more hiding, she needed a water.  The London streets were packed with damp bodies from the blazing sun.

At Piccadilly Circus they were set to perform in front of a theatre.  We all casually waited while a couple of street dancers finished their improvisation.  They had a two hats placed for tips, I suspect they were their only fans!

This Flash Mob lasted longer with no impatient bus drivers threatening to run them down.  The two street dancers decided to cash in on the situation and picked up their hats to work the crowd.  At last they made some money!

The final place was at Leicester Square.  By now we were walking with the group and on smiling terms with the producers!  The Flash Mob caught some unsuspecting punters who were crossing the square in front of Capital Radio.  Cameras were out in force!

Wow!  That girl can jump!!

We left our Sweaty Betty with her friends and went home without having to sit next to someone who had danced as if no-one was watching in a London heat wave!

Rooftop Garden Party is next on the list!!
