Visiting Los Angeles….

We spent the last week in California visiting our film maker son and I must say I was quite impressed with the city.

It wasn’t shrouded in smog as of old and the views were stunning over the city,

There was a lot of traffic but when we ventured on a freeway it ran smoothly.

It wasn’t too difficult finding parking spaces, open meters were readily available and quite often there was money left on them, enough time to pop into a shop and browse for a few minutes.

Picking up after dogs was obviously not mandatory, my son said Californians probably choose not to pick up, we had to dodge little poo piles everywhere.

Then I saw this sign with very explicit language,

CurbDog

What does it mean by the word ‘curb’? To restrain or keep in check (not allow him to do the D. word?) OR, to keep one’s dog close to the edge when he voids?

No wonder little surprises like this (directly under the sign by the way) were found all over the City of Angels,

A straightforward, “Clean up after your dog” works quite well in Texas.

We enjoyed quality time with our son, he worked nights and didn’t have to go in until midnight, way after our bedtime, so we were able to visit with him, go out, eat dinner, make dinner, record podcasts, go to show tapings, tour studios and hike.

During the day when he slept we amused ourselves by pottering around, hubs had meetings, I went to museums or just read my book, quite a luxury!

One thing I did notice, when I was out in Sherman Oaks walking my neighborhood for a week, was the real estate in the hills.  Who would consider buying this steep stretch of land?

Imagine all the work digging foundations or setting down a stone slab on a rocky slope…

Look at this house, barely holding on like a rock climber with all his muscles flexed,

Anyone for cocktails on this balcony?

The views to be had from these residential cling-ons are beautiful!  It must be like living in an airborne plane to be suspended way up high as these houses are.

But I think I would rather know I was standing on solid ground and not have to trust the wind beneath my feet.

How about you?

I think,

Let’s leave the cliffhangers to the movies.
