An Expression of God…

Sometimes when I am immersed in my YogaGlo class a little phrase will crop up while I am reciting my own Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be mantra that will bring me up sharp and cause me to think….hard…about what was just said.

Listening to another faith system being espoused is quite interesting because it can challenge my witness.

I am no Baptist and am pretty awful when it comes to quoting bible passages and coming up with apologetic discourses but I can feed my soul with searching and eventually return to my centre nourished and revived.

My yogi was leading a meditation and quietly talking about standing in my truth.

The teaching was about losing touch of reality through weakness.

The soft voice continued against the background of my prayers,

about our being consciousness and then these words,

“I am God!  There I’ve said it, I am God!”  woke me from my peace.

He made me laugh!

The words in scripture,

“And God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness…God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.”  (Genesis 1: 26-27)

appear to insinuate for some thinkers that our little piece of divinity given us at the point of creation means we have the whole package and that we are God.

Not made in his image, but God himself.  Imagine that, billions of Gods!

After my little detour from praising God on my mat I heard,

“I am an expression of the divine.”

Aah, now we’re getting closer to the truth.

I can live with being an expression of God, I pray I am worthy to proclaim it.In the very next sentence he said, we are an expression of God.  Much better.
