Hubs and I went to stay at my friend’s house. She just happened to be out of town, we hadn’t planned it but it couldn’t have worked out better.
I offered to look after her dogs to save putting them in a kennel but she had already made arrangements.
Her cat,
“Boulay-Bou would appreciate the company though,” she said.
He did, falling in love with hubs at first sight!
The double bed did me in! Shades of England all over again. With a new mattress and beautifully, crisp white sheets I was in heaven, as long as I was in the bed alone!
We had to keep our door shut to discourage the cat from seeking out his soul mate in the night.
Each morning I woke at the ungodly hour of about 4 0’clock when I would toss and turn and stretch as best I could with another body alongside me and finally drift off again at about 7 to awaken, with a start, less than 30 minutes later.
These Startlings, as I call them, cause a heaviness as I drag myself from the deep sleep that had alluded me during the pre-dawn hours.
I had relaxed so much my head was buried far into the feather pillow causing a moment when I could not move.
No worries though, I had no pressing business that required my presence, I was on a long weekend hiatus making the leisurely rounds of children and friends.
And here was hubs with my first cup of tea!
