Macaw Bath…

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of watching two macaws take a bath.

They would have needed a swimming pool to splash around as a sparrow does in in a puddle.

Instead they got a steady shower from the hose while in their outdoor cage.

Walter and Lemon are the birds my son and his wife collected from Florida when they were fresh hatchlings just 4 weeks old.

They are now 7 months old, fully grown and learning to fly.

My daughter-in-law explained that birds won’t bathe unless they are content, healthy and well fed.

Despite the cold weather and even colder water these two birds were some content macaws.

They screeched and flapped and shook and turned upside down

to get every single, brightly colored feather drenched.

They were beautiful.
