It’s Spring in Beckenham and the roses have started blooming. I have a couple on my desk,
and the bush outside is looking very pretty with these buds,
Walking through the graveyard when the sun is not out I notice closed daisies,
and the damp weather is enticing mosses to blanket the tops of brick walls with purple and yellow hues,
and a surprise of aubergine and white daisies stretching for the sun.
Bees are busy visiting the flourishing blooms, showing up bright among the buttercups,
startling against the rhododendron,
and hidden in the purple clusters, can you spot it?
and wrapped around a cluster,
A young fox is startled by my approach,
and runs away,
Finally with all this life abounding an egg, fallen from its nest,
and further along a brave fledgling that hadn’t quite found its wings,
and a stag beetle in all his expired glory,
all signs of Spring in Beckenham.
