News From Mistral September 12th-13th At Sea & Bilbao

Thursday September 12th At Sea

‘Bang! Bang! Bang!  Cabin inspection!’ woke me up at 10:45 this morning. I tried to get down out of my bunk as 3 men stood there watching me stumble to the floor.

They looked around, tried to scrub up the hair dye from the carpet, and left. Phew!! They didn’t find my food!!

I made my own coffee and my own ramen.  My little French press is the best thing that has ever stepped foot onto this ship. I feel so at home sitting in my cabin with my fresh coffee and shortbread biscuits.

CoffeeTime

And of course I just spilled some coffee down me. Without fail, every time I have something to drink I spill it, or every time I’m walking, I trip. This ship is throwing me off!

I got an email from Krysha (my agent) this morning. She informed me that I will finish my contract with Ibero on November 3rd, and then I will sign a 6 month contract with Costa through another agent.  I am not 100% sure how I feel about that and what I exactly want to do. It’s all a bit much for me to think about right now, because I’m not sure that the ship life is for me. But if I say no, then my name is burned with any other Costa ship.

I think I broke my ring toe on my left foot, ouchie wah wah!

I watched Majestic, the acrobat show, alone, I thought it would be nice to know what other people do whom I work with. They are amazing acrobats!

We did the presentation, we carried the flags today, it was good! We all had a lot of fun on stage, then we greeted (well said goodbye) to all the passengers.

Manu keeps talking about medically disembarking because of her ankle. I really hope she doesn’t leave me already! Maybe if she had a better work ethic or respect for other people, she would try her hardest to get better and just do the shows. Oh well! We will see soon.

Manu and I went upstairs to the Disco and watched Curry, her boyfriend, make drinks.  Later Javier and I took a walk around the ship. Then I went to bed!

Friday September 13th, Bilbao, Spain

I was in the second group for disembarkation this morning. But there was not a time on the board, so I waited for Bori to knock on my door. It was 12:36 when she knocked. I got ready as quickly as I could and ended up only being on disembarkation duty for less than an hour. I stood watching the Celebrity cruise liner opposite me.

Then Javier and I went to find Internet. We ended up in a cute small bar. The Internet was great!  We had a beer and sandwich while we both Skyped home.

Bilbao

We had to get back on board at 4pm because of the passenger drill. At first, no-one was at my muster station, ‘D’, but by the end of the drill, ours was the most full!  We were all hot and sweaty because it was gorgeous sunshine outside and we had to stand, in uniform and lifejacket for half an hour.

Drill2

There was a pool party right after the drill. We all danced around, then Silvia led us to the pool. So we all took off our valuables and jumped in, it was amazing.  The salt water stung my legs, but I knew it would probably be the only time I was allowed in the passenger pool so I enjoyed myself!

I decided not to wash my hair before the shows, because gel, hairspray and slick, works better with dirty hair.

We had Radio show. Both of the shows were really good! Manu only did half of the show because of her ankle. It was exhausting for all of us!!

Manu and I ended up watching a movie in Spanish and she translated for me. She kept laughing really hard, it didn’t look funny because someone on the screen was beating someone up!  I NEEEDED to know why she was laughing, so she translated. Turns out it was a comedy!

It was Norbi’s birthday so we went to his cabin to celebrate.  I shared all of my goodies with them! It was literally like a sauna it was so hot.

On our staff announcement board, at the top of one of the columns it says ‘Dutty.’  These people need a little something called, spell check!
