News from Mistral September 1st-2nd Amsterdam

Sunday, September 1st Sea Day

Days all run together on board. It’s so strange. Anyway, I woke up for  coffee time today. There was no possible way for me to get out of my bunk gracefully, the ship was moving way too much. Things had fallen over in the cabin and the door kept coming open because of the rough seas!  I  looked out the window to see huge waves sloshing up the side of the ship.

The whole ship was deserted. Everyone must have been in his or her cabins being sick! I felt fine. We didn’t end up having rehearsals, so Manu and I walked around, or shall I say, stumbled around! I found it very amusing! It was impossible to walk in a straight line.

We all thought “the shows must go on” so we were makeup and hair ready when they were cancelled.  Thank goodness!  We listened to Javier sing Tango instead he was amazing!!!!  I had a Pina Colada that tasted awful!!

We ate chicken nuggets and pizza! Mmmmm.

I had an email from Warner Hotels in England offering me a job!

it was beautiful and very clean.

We started out as a group of 9 then somehow got split up and it turned out the other group went to the Red Light district!  Somehow we missed that!

There were lots of bikes,

and a post with hundreds of padlocks!

On the way back to the ship we had to take a ferry, then a bus, it took 2 ½ hours. We finally made it back and the security guards patted down everyone who was returning to the ship, because they didn’t want anyone bringing marijuana aboard.

We were just in time to do the Pool Party I had so much energy!

On the deck there was a lot of salt from where the sea had sloshed over, water had got everywhere so when it dried everything was salty.

Era taught me 2 really easy numbers for tonight’s show. Then we all kind of played around and had some fun.

Then I went as a gangster for Carnival night complete with a fake gun!

Gangster2

There was live music night which meant most of the music was salsa, so I didn’t do very well!  Everyone else had fun and they were good to watch.  Sergi and I pretended to dance the whole time, just bobbing without moving our feet. I got very sweaty in my costume which began to feel extremely unpleasant.

Later Manu and I talked in our cabin, the way she expresses herself in English is very clever. Then Curry, her boyfriend, came in the cabin and started telling me a story and suddenly he was talking about ‘Bear Grahams’…I said, ‘Teddy Grahams?’  Then he tried to tell me about an alcohol he had, something that sounded like ‘birthday’…but man we were all just laughing so hard. Manu thinks his English isn’t any good, so she corrects him, then looks at me to make sure she is saying it correctly!  When Manu says, ‘happy birthday’ it comes out as ‘haps burfday.’

It’s a bit sad because since they can’t speak very good English I think they aren’t very intelligent. Which isn’t fair of me to assume.

I spoke to Philippe, he is one of the technicians. He told me that Anoushka, the Cruise Director and my boss, sits next to him during the shows and speaks so highly of me. What an amazing dancer I am. So I guess that’s…good. Haha!  Shame she never tells me!
